My work explores the landscapes of Northern California—its coastline, rivers, and atmospheric light—recording these places as both an act of reverence and resistance. At a time when our natural world is under threat, I see painting as a way to bear witness: to chronicle the beauty of what is here, now, while acknowledging the quiet urgency of its impermanence.

This exhibition, "Northern California Light: Witnessing Beauty, Witnessing Change," invites viewers to step into immersive, atmospheric paintings that capture the fleeting interplay of light and landscape. These paintings urge us to pause, to truly see, to be present in nature—and to understand that looking is an act of witnessing.

The Power of Presence: Art as Witness, Art as Action

Spending time in nature is transformative. It shifts something deep in the spirit, reminding us of our connection to something larger than ourselves. My process is rooted in observation—taking time to see, to feel, to absorb the colors and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. This slowness, this deliberate act of looking, becomes a form of resistance against the speed and destruction of modern life.

These paintings are not just about beauty, but about attention. When we witness something, we acknowledge its existence. When we record it, we say: this matters.
